A series of three bombings in the capital of Uganda, one at a restaurant and two at a rugby center, killed at least 74 people and injured many others who had gathered to watch the World Cup final. The attacks were allegedly carried out by the Somali Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab, which released a statement claiming responsibility. The group says it targeted Uganda because its troops play a large role in the African Union’s peacekee ping mission in Somalia. Uganda has declared a week of national mourning for the victims of the bombings. Discuss
